We

for Keeping Participants Engaged”, at the 2008 ASTD VOS Fall Conference. The
event will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at the Desert Willows Conference Center in

Workshop
Description
Using
synchronous learning techniques via technology like WebEx, Citrix, Elluminate
and Net Meeting is a relatively low-cost way of reaching distance learners
simultaneously. Yet, as we all have experienced, keeping distance learners
engaged in the session can be challenging. While learners are checking e-mail, talking to others in the office, reheating
their coffee and multi-tasking in any number of ways, how much can they really
be learning and retaining? Probably not much! To respond to the challenges of
synchronous virtual instruction, we have developed some easy-to-use “tips and
tricks” for engaging the audience and making the most of technology.
Using
sound adult learning and motivation theory and our experience in designing,
developing and delivering these types of sessions, we share with you ways in
which you can create more dynamic and engaging learning sessions…and deter
multi-taskers! In this session, we will not only discuss and demonstrate those
methods, but we’ll actually use them to teach the session. Through an in-person
experience of the tips and tricks for effective virtual instruction, you’ll
learn how to use them in your next virtual learning event.
Thank
You!
Finally,
thank you – our clients and friends – for your continued business and
support. We take great satisfaction in exceeding your expectations as we assess
and address your learning and performance needs. If you know of others within
your organization or elsewhere who could also benefit from our services, please
reach out and let us know or have your colleagues give us a
call!

Special
Edition!
06.23.08
Welcome
to this Special Edition of The GNews! We're writing to share some exciting
news: Strengthening
Our E-Learning Edge through Interactive
Alchemy!
Like
most industries, the training and development world is constantly investigating
new tools and techniques for leveraging the latest technologies. As you know,
The GMarie Group has provided leading edge Learning offerings—interactive
classroom training, learning games,
high-impact
simulations and engaging podcasts to interactive multimedia activities and
virtual instructor-led training. Because of our innovation and creativity, you
might just be wondering, “What will The GMarie Group think of next?”
In
our efforts to develop cutting edge e-Learning solutions for clients, The GMarie
Group is adding additional e-Learning talent to its full-time staff. In
fact, we’re adding a whole team! As of June 23rd, The GMarie Group is
acquiring Interactive Alchemy, an award-winning e-Learning provider.
Through this exciting merger, our expanded staff of 25 learning professionals
will include expert project managers, instructional designers, quality assurance
specialists and – for the first time – in-house e-Learning developers! (And
yes…our cadre of several hundred learning and development associates are still
with us - and at-the-ready to support your learning
needs.)
In
addition to gaining such great talent (and we can’t wait for you to meet them!),
The GMarie Group will leverage the new team to develop high impact learning
solutions, using a multitude of e-Learning development tools to meet your
particular needs. One of these is a cutting edge tool created by the founders of
Interactive Alchemy. The product, called Flypaper, allows training professionals to
easily create, edit and share high-impact presentations and other rich media
content on the Web. The GMarie Group will be the inaugural Certified Flypaper
E-Learning Partner!
With
our new team, we are now able to provide a full range of e-Learning offerings
including the development of innovative learning solutions using this
interactive content creation software. This is an exciting merger for us and we
look forward to bringing more innovation to you, our valued clients.
As

We look forward to working with you even more, with our new, expanded
team!
Thank
you!
Georgianna

Second Quarter
Update!
04.18.08
At the beginning of the year, we
shared with you some exciting initiatives and events planned for 2008. Here's an
update on what's new so far:
First, we said we would continue
adding experts and resources to our team. Most notably, we've added a new
member of the GMarie team,
our Vice President of Client Relations and Learning
Solutions, Chuck
Lombardo.
We met Chuck last fall by way of
introduction from several of our client colleagues in Jacksonville,
Florida, where Chuck lives. He came to us highly recommended by folks who are
familiar with The GMarie Group, our culture, our work and our needs.
Chuck has a Ph.D. in
Instructional Systems from Florida State, and an M. Ed. in Instructional
Leadership. Most recently, Chuck has been the Director of Creative Learning
Services for Florida Community College, where he developed the infrastructure
and processes for a large e-learning initiative. Prior to the college,
Chuck held learning leadership positions in the corporate sector managing
training functions and as the instructional design project manager in a
consulting firm, very similar to The GMarie Group. During the interview
process, what impressed us most about Chuck was his clam, competent manner, his
breadth of experience and his excitement about our work and our clients.
We are very excited to have him join our team!
In his capacity as VP of
Client Services and Learning Solutions, Chuck will be the primary contact for
our clients. He will also lead our Instructional Design and Project
Management teams. You can reach Chuck at clombardo@gmariegroup.com and
904.389.3024.
Chuck is our most
notable new "expert" and our most notable new "resource" is our new Quality Guarantee and Scorecard process.
We know how important the success of each performance improvement project
is to your organization’s bottom line. That is why we employ The GMarie Group
Quality Assurance Program with every project to provide you with the best in
instructional design and performance improvement. The GMarie Group Quality
Assurance Program identifies critical quality components necessary to ensure
that our products will deliver your desired performance outcomes. To meet
our rigorous standards, work by each GMarie associate is reviewed for excellence
and consistency. We also assign key associates to oversee instructional
integrity in design methodology. To learn more about the program, click
here.
Next, we said we would begin to expand our offerings through a
series of White Papers that outline approaches to learning and
development challenges, which can be tailored to meet client needs. We've
published several of these so far. Click
here to see and hear an overview to our unique approach to
Leadership Development, through the customized leadership development
approach.
We also shared that we'd be
presenting workshops at a variety of conferences in the coming months. In the
first quarter, we reached out to hundreds of learning and development
professionals, sharing information about:
- Critical
Thinking Skills
- Developing
Effective Detailed Design Documents and WBT/CBT Storyboards
- Analyzing
New Projects
If you'd like access to any of the tools we shared at
these workshops, please contact us and let us know. We'll be happy send back
what you need.
Finally, we talked about our continuing focus on giving
back to our community. In Q1, we co-hosted a booth with our friends at Free Arts at
the Willo Home Tour and raffled prizes to raise nearly
$1,000 for children need.

As we move
into the second quarter of the year, we look forward to more innovation, more
collaboration, and more learning. We look forward to sharing it with
you!
With much gratitude,
Georgianna

Mid-Year Update!
Earlier this year, we talked to you about our ongoing growth and change and how, after much close listening to our clients and associates we have defined our theme for 2007: a renewed commitment and sizable investment in increasing our responsiveness. Here is an update on how we are doing toward this end.
Having the right people on the right projects at the right time.
Our talent pool is now made up of over 200 instructional design, project management and learning professionals, located across the nation. With such a large base available to us, we can more readily adapt and tailor project teams to the particular needs of any given project. We have the ability to sort through our database and locate the appropriate resources based on years of experience, industry expertise, particular training/development experience, or location, among many other factors.
Having the right technology for the task at hand.
As the projects we land continue to get more and more complex, with more moving parts and challenges, we've increased our commitment to project management expertise and thought leadership. We know that our customers come to us not just to "get the work done" but to get it done creatively, efficiently and painlessly. So, for the remainder of this year, our team members will pursue continued education in project management methodology. In addition, we've established an informal partnership with an organization built upon a Project Leadership technology, that we will begin adapting to the ADDIE model. Stay tuned for more news on this!
Technology, tools and resources reinforcing our commitment to responsiveness.
We have made significant upgrades to our virtual work tools that have enhanced our ability to communicate and share information. These include our fully integrated Outlook server platform and our Share Point intranet site. Better communication, coordination and sharing of best practices are the tangible results.
Ever increasing need to do what we do faster, better and with more innovation.
To increase our ability to not only develop effective eLearning instruction, but to help others to do the same, we recently presented Design and Development tips for effective eLearning at a national conference. Both tools we used in those sessions are now available to all of our clients, and anyone else who visits our website. Click on links above for a PDF version of each tool. These tools enable you to not only understand the ID process for eLearning, but will also better equip you to actually go through the design and development processes.
In closing, we can't say enough about you, our clients and associates. You motivate and inspire us everyday. Thank you for your ongoing support of The GMarie Group...and stay tuned for more updates!
With much gratitude,
Georgianna
